The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will conduct a simulation of its national elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29, as part of preparations for the October 3 polls. The exercise, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Ghana Police Service, is aimed at testing the election arrangements, identifying potential gaps and making necessary adjustments ahead of election day.
Frederick Opare Ansah, Chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, said the simulation would allow the three institutions to assess the procedures and arrangements for the polls and address any shortcomings identified. Speaking on the Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, September 27, Mr Opare Ansah said the committee would use Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to correct any inadequacies that emerge from the simulation.
The committee will also meet the EC and agents representing all aspirants at the stadium on Friday to take them through the election procedures and ensure that all stakeholders are familiar with the arrangements. Mr Opare Ansah said the preparations were intended to ensure that there would be no unexpected procedures or surprises for stakeholders when voting begins on Saturday. The NPP is scheduled to elect its national officers on October 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with 45 aspirants remaining in the contest.
