Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has declared her intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries to become the party’s candidate for the constituency once again. In a statement dated Thursday, October 22, 2026, the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection said the decision followed extensive consultations, careful reflection and engagements with party leaders and executives.
Mrs Safo explained that although she had previously expressed interest in pursuing opportunities outside the constituency, further consideration had convinced her that representing the people of Dome-Kwabenya in Parliament remained her foremost priority. She formally announced her decision to seek the party’s nomination when the NPP releases the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primaries, citing her commitment to the party’s principles, values and political tradition.
According to her, the decision reflects her continued dedication to the constituency and her belief that she still has more to contribute to its growth and development. She described Dome-Kwabenya as one of Ghana’s fastest-growing constituencies, noting that its rapid expansion presents significant opportunities alongside pressing developmental challenges.
Reflecting on her 12 years as the constituency’s MP, Mrs Safo said she had worked closely with residents, party members, community and religious leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to tackle local challenges and promote development. While acknowledging that more work remains to be done, she reaffirmed her commitment to consolidating the gains made during her tenure and working towards a better future for the people of Dome-Kwabenya.
