The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) reports that drivers are adopting safer driving habits following the rollout of the automated traffic enforcement system, TRAFFITECH-GH. According to Henry Asomani, Deputy Director of Planning and Programmes at the NRSA and the Authority’s focal person for the initiative, preliminary assessments indicate that many motorists are slowing down to avoid traffic violation notices. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday, he noted that the system has influenced driver behaviour, with fewer motorists engaging in excessive speeding due to the likelihood of being cited.
Mr. Asomani said TRAFFITECH-GH has generally been well received by the public, although some motorists have expressed concerns about gaps in road infrastructure. He added that the NRSA is collaborating with relevant road agencies to improve traffic management by ensuring the installation of adequate road signs to guide motorists on speed limits and other road regulations.
