The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has removed unauthorised structures around the Achimota New Overhead Ayalolo bus stop to facilitate the loading and unloading of passengers by commercial buses, particularly Ayalolo buses. This clearance operation, led by Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, is part of ongoing efforts to reclaim public spaces occupied by traders and to improve access to public transport facilities.
The goal of this initiative is to allow commercial buses, especially Ayalolo buses, to pick up and drop off passengers without obstruction, thereby alleviating congestion around the bus stop. The Mayor, in collaboration with the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, is also working to eliminate unauthorised structures and trading activities in the city.
This operation aims to ensure that bus stops remain free of trading activities, allowing commercial buses to operate without interference. It is part of the assembly’s broader efforts to regulate the use of public spaces and enhance traffic management in the capital.
