Ghana and Luxembourg are set to begin discussions on a possible visa waiver arrangement between the two countries and the wider Benelux region. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Xavier Bettel. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
During their discussions, the two ministers explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various areas, including digital technology, agro-processing, value addition, and industrial development. They expressed that increased economic cooperation should help create jobs, strengthen local industries, and support sustainable economic development.
In addition, the discussions covered regional and international issues such as democratic values, human rights, security, and the importance of dialogue among countries. Ghana and Luxembourg also considered opportunities to deepen development cooperation, investment, and people-to-people relations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties.
