New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary aspirant Eugene Boakye Antwi has expressed confidence in his prospects of winning the party’s National Delegates Congress and becoming the next General Secretary. Speaking to Channel One TV’s Hanson Agyemang at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, venue for the NPP’s National Delegates Congress and Officers’ elections, Boakye Antwi said the response to his campaign from delegates had strengthened his belief that he has secured significant support.
According to him, interactions with delegates across the country have revealed a strong desire for changes in how the party is organised and managed. He described himself as a “game changer” who can help reposition the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“The message is loud and clear. I am hosting the delegates’ congress and I am winning it. My message has resonated very well with the delegates and there is a clarion call for a change in the affairs of the party. They see me as a game changer for 2028,” he said. Boakye Antwi, a former Member of Parliament for the Subin Constituency, has based his campaign on strengthening the NPP’s internal structures and rebuilding its connection with the grassroots as the party prepares for the next general election.
The National Delegates Congress is being held to elect a new set of national officers who will oversee the party’s organisational and administrative affairs and coordinate its activities at the grassroots. A total of 7,163 delegates from across Ghana are expected to participate in the National Delegates Congress and Officers’ elections in Kumasi.
