Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has thrown her support behind her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, recognising him as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church. In a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, 2026, Adwoa Safo called for unity within the family and the Kristo Asafo Mission, urging members to set aside past disagreements and work together to preserve the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo.
She said the family must move beyond the disputes that emerged following their father’s death and embrace reconciliation in order to protect and advance his vision. “The time has come for us, as a family, to transcend whatever differences, misunderstandings or grievances that may have characterised the immediate aftermath of the demise of our dear dad and consign them to history,” she said.
Adwoa Safo also expressed her readiness to collaborate with Akofena and her other siblings to further their father’s vision, emphasising that his legacy should serve as a unifying force rather than become a source of division.
“I publicly acknowledge and accept him as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asafo Church. He has my full support. Our father’s legacy transcends any one individual. It is a collective inheritance and a profound responsibility entrusted to us, as his children,” she stated. Her comments come after months of disagreement over the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo in September 2025.
In June, members of the late Apostle’s family rejected Akofena’s claim to the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission, insisting that the succession framework established by the founder remained binding. The family had also identified Adwoa Safo as the recognised Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family and its principal representative.
However, in her latest statement, Adwoa Safo has called on members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the wider Kantanka family to embrace reconciliation and begin a new chapter. “Let us embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose,” she added.
