The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Communications, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has warned prospective parliamentary aspirants that disregarding the party’s directive to halt all campaign activities could undermine their credibility and raise concerns about their ability to lead.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, October 10, Mr Aboagye stressed that anyone seeking a leadership position within the party must demonstrate a commitment to respecting its rules and directives. He noted that aspirants who fail to abide by the party’s instructions may not be suitable for leadership at any level.
“If you yourself begin to disregard party directives, then, you know, you’re not fit to lead a party at any level,” he said. Mr Aboagye further cautioned that failure to comply with the directive could result in disqualification from the NPP’s parliamentary primaries.
“There are consequences to not comply with this directive, chief of which is the likelihood of disqualification just because you refuse to comply by the party’s directive,” he added. The NPP has instructed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to suspend campaign activities until further notice.
According to the party, the measure is aimed at curbing premature campaigning, ensuring a fair and level playing field for all aspirants, and maintaining unity, discipline and order within its ranks.
