The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has instructed the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, to withdraw from the race for the party’s Juaben constituency chairmanship or face possible disqualification. The directive was disclosed by the party’s Deputy National Communications Director, Julius Kwame Anthony.
Mr. Abdulai, popularly known as Paapaa, is currently under investigation over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a female student. In response to the allegations, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted him pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
According to police reports, a 20-year-old Form Two student of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, accompanied by her father, filed a complaint with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Obuasi on August 4, 2026.
The NDC’s directive comes as Mr. Abdulai pursues the party’s Juaben constituency chairmanship position ahead of internal elections. While investigations into the allegations continue, no official findings or conclusions have yet been reached.
