The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement program, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026. The additional month will be dedicated to enhancing public education about how the system operates, the traffic offenses it will identify, and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to offending motorists. This decision was announced in a press release dated September 29, 2026.
The purpose of the rescheduling is to allow for more extensive public awareness and education before the program’s full rollout. TRAFFITECH-GH, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is part of the Police Service’s efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and ensure better compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
The Police Service has urged motorists, drivers, and vehicle owners to use this additional time to familiarise themselves with the program ahead of the new launch date. They have also expressed gratitude to the media for their support during the introduction of TRAFFITECH-GH and reiterated their commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the program and to improve road safety.
