The Controlled Food Suppliers Association (CFSA) has announced a five-day protest at the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) in Accra, seeking payment for food supplied under the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme in 2024. The demonstration, set for November 16–20, 2026, comes after what the association describes as months of unsuccessful efforts to collect outstanding payments owed to its members.
In a formal notice to GCX management, the CFSA explained that it had pursued multiple avenues to recover the funds but had not received a satisfactory response from the relevant authorities. The association also revealed that it issued a two-week ultimatum to GCX on October 7, demanding payment of the debts by October 21. According to the CFSA, the deadline elapsed without any payment being made.
CFSA officials stated that the protest is now necessary after repeated attempts to resolve the issue with the exchange failed. The association’s Administrative Secretary, Cornelius Korku Logo, noted in the notice that its leadership had exhausted formal channels before opting to organize the demonstration. He emphasized that the ongoing delay in payment and GCX’s inaction regarding the ultimatum had compelled the association to take this step.
During the five-day protest, the CFSA intends to push for the full settlement of all outstanding payments to its members.
