Actor and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has sponsored overseas scholarships for more than 40 students to pursue further education abroad. The first group of beneficiaries departed Ghana for Russia on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The students are beneficiaries of the John Dumelo Scholarship Scheme, an initiative designed to provide fully funded scholarships and help selected students access higher education outside Ghana.
Dumelo announced the development in a post on Instagram, where he shared a photograph of himself with the students as they prepared to embark on their journey to Russia. According to the MP, the scheme is expected to benefit more than 40 students by the end of 2027, with additional recipients scheduled to travel abroad to continue their education.
The scholarship programme forms part of Dumelo’s broader commitment to promoting education and improving student welfare in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. Other educational interventions associated with his efforts include plans to construct a new senior high school at Pantang, replace damaged and unsafe desks at Roman Ridge M/A Basic School, and distribute educational supplies to students and families.
The overseas scholarship initiative further expands these efforts by giving selected students the opportunity to pursue higher education abroad through fully funded support.
