Ghana Jollof TikTok Case: Nurse Remanded for Two Weeks

The Adenta Circuit Court 1 has remanded Salomey Awity Baffoe, a 40-year-old Senior Nursing Officer and mother of three, for two weeks amid investigations into the controversial TikTok account Ghana Jollof, which frequently criticises government officials.

Her legal counsel, Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, criticised the court’s decision, pointing out a contradiction in the prosecution’s claims. He noted that law enforcement informed the court that the primary individual behind the Ghana Jollof handle resides in the United Kingdom, rendering his client’s continued detention unnecessary and unjustified.

Baffoe’s arrest was carried out at her home in Hansua, Techiman Municipality, around 11:30 p.m. on September 13 by three individuals identifying as National Security operatives. Following her late-night arrest, her family struggled to locate her, as both the local police command and regional security officials initially claimed to have no record of the operation.
