Public sector workers are set to receive a 9% increase in total remuneration from January 1, 2027, after the Government and Organised Labour concluded negotiations under the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee. The increase consists of an 8% salary increment and a 1% allocation for conditions of service.
Announcing the agreement on October 28, Organised Labour Secretary-General Joshua Ansah said both parties had also agreed on a 10% across-the-board pay rise for 2028. The 2028 adjustment will be calculated using the wage bill applicable as of December 31, 2027, and will take effect on January 1, subject to legislative approval.
