2027 Budget to Focus on Jobs, Productivity and Economic Growth – Ampem

Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Nyarko Ampem says the 2027 Budget will mark the next phase of the government’s economic agenda, with a strong focus on job creation, productivity and sustainable economic growth. The government is expected to present the 2027 Budget to Parliament on November 12, outlining measures to build a more productive, competitive and technology-driven economy.

Speaking at the maiden launch of Ghana in Numbers 2025 in Accra on Thursday, October 29, Mr Ampem said the next stage of the government’s economic programme must convert the recent progress in economic stability into tangible benefits for Ghanaians, including more jobs, higher incomes and improved living standards. “Stability is the foundation. Productivity is the engine. Jobs and prosperity must be the destination,” he stated.

Mr Ampem highlighted the country’s economic performance, noting that Ghana recorded growth of 6 per cent in 2025 and 6.2 per cent in the first half of 2026. He added that inflation had fallen significantly from 23.8 per cent in December 2024 to 5.2 per cent in September 2026.

He said the government’s next priority would be to implement policies that promote local value addition, strengthen businesses and create more economic opportunities for young people. According to him, Ghana must shift away from relying heavily on raw material exports and build its capacity to produce goods and services with higher value.

“We must move from exporting raw materials to exporting value and from producing job seekers to nurturing innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators,” he said.

The 2027 Budget is expected to outline the government’s priorities for the next phase of its economic programme, focusing on turning macroeconomic stability into expanded job opportunities, stronger productivity and better living standards for the population.
