Parliament will today, Monday, August 24, reconvene for a special sitting following a recall by Speaker Alban Bagbin. The recall, less than a month after the House adjourned on July 31, 2026, brings Members of Parliament back to address what the Speaker has described as urgent parliamentary business.
Exercising his authority under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders, Bagbin directed the resumption to enable deliberations on matters deemed too pressing to await the next scheduled sitting.
The recall period runs from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, during which the House is expected to consider, among other issues, the nominations of Mahama Ayariga as Minister‑designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and Zanetor Agyeman‑Rawlings as Minister‑designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
