The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the murders of two relatives at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono, located in the Greater Accra Region. The suspect, Beatrice Mumuni, is believed to have led Samuel Christopher Osei Anto to the victims’ residence before the killings, according to a police statement.
The victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47, were killed on Friday, October 30, 2026. The police have declared Osei Anto wanted in order to assist with the investigation and are offering a reward of GH¢100,000 for credible information leading to his arrest.
Police appeal for information
In a statement announcing the arrest, the police appealed to anyone with information on Osei Anto’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station. The public can also reach the police through the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.
The arrest comes after preliminary investigations linked the killings to an alleged financial dispute between Osei Anto and George Atubiga, who reportedly owed the suspect GH¢500,000.
Police earlier disclosed that Osei Anto had visited the victims’ residence with Mumuni to demand repayment of the debt. A misunderstanding allegedly ensued during the encounter, resulting in the fatal shooting of George Atubiga and his niece.
Although the suspect has been arrested, investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killings. The police have also called on the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
