Ghanaian actress Ahoufe Patri has spoken about the impact that rumours concerning her personal life had on her career, saying false claims that she smoked and was pregnant cost her valuable opportunities and relationships within the entertainment industry. The actress said the rumours significantly affected her professional life, with some individuals developing negative perceptions of her based on allegations she maintains were untrue.
“I lost big opportunities and good relationships over smoking rumours and pregnancy. This was a huge blow for me,” Ahoufe Patri said in an interview on Okay FM. The actress, who has spent about 14 years in the movie industry, recalled that her acting career began with the film Shakira, in which she had a cameo role alongside actors such as Mercy Johnson and Kofi Adjorlolo.
She said she later discovered that her scenes had been edited out of the movie, prompting her to pursue other opportunities in the industry. Her journey eventually led her to the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), where she received training and became involved in the production Boys Kasa.
According to Ahoufe Patri, the rumours surrounding her became increasingly damaging as they spread, influencing how she was viewed by people both professionally and personally. She also recalled that, at one point, rumours circulated that she was suffering from depression. The actress, however, maintained that she was not depressed.
Reflecting on her personal life, the actress revealed that she would rather date someone who runs his own business outside the entertainment sector than a prominent figure in showbiz. She explained that she is naturally attracted to reserved individuals and prefers a partner who maintains a low profile.
Looking back on her career, Ahoufe Patri described her experience in the entertainment industry as both challenging and rewarding, marked by obstacles as well as significant achievements. Despite the setbacks she has faced, she encouraged others to remain persistent and focused on growth, emphasizing the importance of continuous self-improvement and striving to advance beyond one’s starting point.
The actress also announced her latest project, Accra: The Survival of the Smartest, which will be streamed on YouTube via Ahoufe Productions. According to her, the production blends comedy, entertainment and valuable life lessons, offering viewers both enjoyment and meaningful insights.
