The Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the prime suspect in the killing of two people at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, following a manhunt after he went into hiding. The Police confirmed his arrest in a post on X on Sunday, November 1, 2026, stating that he had been apprehended at his hideout.
“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated.
Christopher’s arrest comes after the earlier apprehension of a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of helping him locate the victims’ residence before the incident. The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga. They were reportedly killed at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the incident may have been linked to a financial disagreement between Christopher and George Atubiga. The deceased allegedly owed Christopher GH¢500,000, which he had reportedly borrowed but failed to repay.
According to police accounts, Christopher visited the victims’ home on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand payment of the outstanding debt. A disagreement is said to have broken out during the confrontation, after which Christopher allegedly shot and killed George and his niece.
The victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies were subsequently transferred to the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. With Christopher’s arrest, both principal suspects in the case are now in police custody as investigations into the killings continue.
